Gourd Lord Feste the Mad 4 by Boggleboy Gourd Lord Feste the Mad 4 by Boggleboy
Feste the Mad was not originally my favorite of these first three in my new series I'm calling the Gourd Lords, but he has ended up being so... He is meant to be the Trickster, the Jester, a bit of the Fool- but don't be too fooled...he isn't stupid, merely mad as March Hare...there is wisdom to be had if you find in all his trickery.

Feste the Mad- like all the others in the Gourd Lord series- is made from a REAL gourd upon which I sculpted/modeled the facial features with an epoxy clay. In Feste's case, the handle is also real. I then base coated them them with a white and went over them in payers of acrylic washes to to achieve their original real color schemes- they tend to loose all the color after drying and can even get mold spots and the like...

I don't usually do teeth for my figures as that tends to be a little creepy to me, but in this case...I thought it worked well.

Thank you! I'm glad that you said that regarding the teeth and the eyes! I think it really makes the character very clear to people! I'm working on all three of their costumes now!

Best thing to do with mold spots on gourds is to wait until the gourd is completely dry, and then sandpaper it off. Works great! :D
