Elias the Valley Strider 1 by Boggleboy Elias the Valley Strider 1 by Boggleboy
And this is one</i> of the main reasons why I've been gone from the Internet altogether for the last two months... I'm very proud of him...so without further ado may I present:

Elias the Valley Strider. The entire piece is over 2 feet tall and is my most ambitious piece to date.

This piece is currently on display as part of the indoor portion of the Troy Sculptures on the Square event. You can see Elias and many other works by a variety of sculptors at the Troy Hayner Cultural Center from June 28 - August 23

Click the link for details: [link]

And yes- he is for sale.... SOLD!!!!

Thank you! It's funny that you should say that- very storybook like. I often consider myself more of a story-teller any way. Every piece I do has a fairly involved story that goes along with it- some from various folk tales from around the world and some from my own tales. I'm glad that come through for you Jess.

Oh yes. I fave seen some nice faery statuettes in Faery Mag. They are nice but there is some essence in them missing. Your statuettes have a very bold personality. I came picture being in this world of yours and encountering each one, the way they would act, even picture their voices. I can feel the time you take to personalize each one

Thank you for saying that Jess...I want very much to bring them and their respective lives and environments to the viewer...as though you are stepping into that world rather than just looking at some pretty and lifeless cold sculpt. I want the viewer to think that each piece is a living thing that has just paused for a moment until the viewer turns around and then it moves again.

Well you accomplished it all as far as I am concerned :D Again I can see this as a illustrated book. All these chataers, even that candles and pumpkins all have winning personalities.

 Thank you dear- and that's okay! I have to admit that I was so happy with just the castle ruins even by themselves that I've begun to think about doing little sets of faerie castles and houses by themselves as sets to sell later, maybe even putting tiny little battery operated lights inside some of them like the old Christmas villages you used to see.

Yessss!!!

I've always loved miniature things -- the insides of rooms, miniature foods, miniature buildings, that sort of stuff. The only disadvantage of those old christmas houses is that there is nothing inside BUT the lights. It would be cool if you could make one large enough that you could see the denizens and furnishings indoors by peeking through the windows.

Sounds like a tough challenge, though! :D

Oh but I didn't need all that provided for me- i used my own imagination to provide me with what it might have looked like within, besides these would be quite small and most likely I would have some kind of opaque material for the windows that would a sort of mellow gold in color or maybe blue when lit from behind.

Holy cow, Kevin! This is bloody amazing (if you'll excuse my French). Stunning work, my friend. Time well spent. The details are beautiful but it's his soulful expression which takes the cake. One of your best by far, mate. Not much of a leap from this guy to three uncouth trolls if you ask me ;)

I really wish yopu could see him in person- but it makes me feel good to read what you said about him as I was trying so hard to convey a sort of ponderous sense of movement with his stance whiel also fighting the very real problem of the physics invloved in getting him to stand unsupported! I'm glad it works for you and just from the photo I took. Thanks hon.
