"My name is Kevin Buntin, and I currently reside within the wilds of Troy, Ohio, with my beautiful wife, and many, many Wee Folk and miscellaneous magical beings packed away in my mind. Art has always been a part of my life, quite literally. I was drawing Viking ships teeming with warriors on "Goldenrod" notebook paper and modeling mummies, Frankenstein monsters- and various other creatures that not too many other people were seeing- every day. Back then I worked in Plasticine clay and had done so as early as my first day of elementary school. As my creatures came to life in my hands, so too, did their respective tales unfold in my mind as they told who they were.

I see all these creatures quite vividly and they do live- not just in my head, but elsewhere. And it is through my tales and my art that I bring these teeming masses to life. However, even though I did my art and told my tales for a very long time, there came a day when I left it all behind. For another long period of time- nearly twelve years- I did just about anything but create... and I was not a happy man. All was gray... And then I met a lovely lady who shone like the sun and she did say, "So... what do you want to do?" And I could no longer remember what that was!!!!! However, it finally came back to me that once upon a very long time ago, I had wanted to be 'an artist'.

And now here I am once again, on the path I was meant to be: making...dolls...? Well, I'm doing art at any rate and I currently do so full time. I often see myself as really more of a storyteller than an artist or sculptor; it's just that I do so via both written word and the sculptural media. I have many creatures clamoring for release from my mind- all queued up within... and it is a very long line, and they will likely outlast me and the time I have to bring them out to the mortal world."

“The truth is that life is hard and dangerous; that he who seeks his own happiness does not find it; that he who is weak must suffer; that he who demands love will be disappointed; that he who is greedy will not be fed; that he who seeks peace will find strife; that truth is only for the brave; that joy is only for him who does not fear to be alone; that life is only for the one who is not afraid to die.”

Okay, so...I have not been on DA much for quite some time... I wonder if that matters much, but here I am. I've been VERY ill for several months and basically all through the they weren't exactly joyous. I think I have a handle on things and I'm getting better physically any way- but my mood has been pretty down. Last year was quite a mixed box of things and ended....not great.

But, I'm busy working on some new stuff- mostly a piece for an art exhibition being held out west in Washington state at a couple of galleries. It's a fantasy mixed media sculptural exhibition centering around interpretations of the Zodiac and the planets. I got asked to be part of this with not a great amount of notice and so have been working hard to get at least one piece done and shipped out. It's a big one and I'll post photos here later for the few of you that still watch what I post and read what I have to say here. I'm trying hard to try to get my foot in the door of other areas of art in the fantasy art world as the art doll world- despite several recent publications interviewing me- seems to have pretty much rejected my work, or at least the collectors of that world. So I wonder how much effort I will be spending on courting as it were patrons in that genre any more. I'm hoping that getting in this exhibition will open the doors for me to begin to venture in to different world of fantasy art as figurative sculptor versus a doll artist.

I will be at this years' Quinlan Art Doll and Teddy Bear show in Philly this May, but it's about 99% likely it will be my LAST year there. I will also be in Chelsea Michigan the first weekend in October for the Ghoultide Gathering show- THAT is a great thing and I am looking forward to that show very much. So...if any of you might be out around those locations, drop by the shows and say hello and see some of my work in person.

Any way, as I see recently from many others who I am connected with here, I am stepping in to say: I am not dead...quite...:shrug: I appologize to those of you who have written to me here and made comments and asked questions of me as most of them have gone unanswered. I can't promise that I will answer all of them soon...but I will try and know that I do read them all. Thank you to you folks who still come by and who watch me still and those of you new to my page who have added me to your watch list in the past six months or more- I appreciate that very much!

Thanks so much. I think you are referring to Old man Winter.  I wanted to do more with him, but he started freezing up.  He is gone already- covered up by icy rain and snow. :XD: They usually don't last long, and they take 6 to 8 hours sometimes to make.  Such is life- all the work for a few minutes of magic and satisfaction after it is done, and I am alone in the night with it.
